nobody tell me bad things any more

Saturday, dinner table conversation included tales of credit cards being compromised by small unauthorized purchases, as lead-ins to bigger unauthorized purchases. Today, I learned that someone attempted to charge $15 to a German long-distance company off my credit card. It's been blocked and I will have a new card in a week.

Yesterday, [info]telophase posted about trouble with her iPod. Five minutes ago, my iPod stopped playing, made repeated descending clicking noises, and upon reset displayed the sad icon. It is two months past its extended warranty.

Today, a co-worker told me about the flat tire she got over the weekend. I am now afraid to go out to the parking lot.

So, please, nobody tell me any bad things that have happened to you lately, because apparently my life is now being run on imitative principes. Or something.

Edit: tires not flat (Chad's pulled a muscle in his leg, but: not the same thing). And the iPod has come back to life, and if it dies again, there may well be a DIY solution (thanks to [info]agrumer for the link). So I think it may be safe now. *knocks on wood, performs other supersition-based propitiatory rituals*

Hmmm...

...this morning I found four hundred dollars in my desk drawer!

(Can't hurt, right?)

Alas, I think it only works if it really happened.

I don't think anything necessarily bad has happened to me lately. So I shall tell you something very, very good:

I am on my first paid vacation EVER. In my whole life. I spent most of the day in bed, snuggling the dog and the cats and playing Phoenix Wright.

I bought a nice new camera! It works!

And, I thought my car was broken! But it wasn't!

(Here's hoping for better news for you and your stuff ... .)

I played tennis again for the first time in three weeks. It was terrific! The other players were roughly comparable in skill, and we were able to keep the ball in play. So much fun!

Heh, yeah. The courts are in the open during the summer, and they put bubbles over them for the winter. So fewer scheduled clinics and matches will be canceled in the winter, presumably, because there aren't concerns like rainouts.

My iPod did the same thing back in April. I managed to fix it myself using these instructions. If your iPod is still under warranty, or if you're intimidated by the thought of prying your iPod open, that may not be the route for you. On the other hand, if your iPod is ruined, why not pry it open and check out its guts?

In August it died again and I bought a new one, but that's four more months of use I got out of it, which was long enough for some new models to come out.

Thanks--it's since come back, which definitely suggests to me something's loose in there. When it dies again, I'll give this a try.

*bites tongue*

Actually, we had a (surprisingly) good visit with both my & BF's parental unit over Thanksgiving. And there were no delays or anything horrid on either of our cross-country flights.

I read the Washington Post's travel chat just because, and apparently it was a pretty good travel Thanksgiving all around. Good that the stuff in-between went well, too.

(Yes, but only 'cause I haven't put any music back on it yet. :D I'm going to construct my playlists on iTunes before doing that so I don't have to reconstruct them again if the music vanishes again.)
