Two fics about media representation

hbo presents (2019 words) by nighimpossible
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Captain America (Movies), Marvel Cinematic Universe
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: Author Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings
Relationships: James "Bucky" Barnes & Steve Rogers, Team - Relationship
Characters: Tony Stark, Antoine Triplett, Steve Rogers, James "Bucky" Barnes, Sam Wilson (Marvel), Natasha Romanov, Clint Barton

This one came first . . .

Steve Rogers at 100: Celebrating Captain America on Film (10228 words) by eleveninches, M_Leigh, tigrrmilk, neenya, Febricant, hellotailor
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Captain America (Movies), Marvel Cinematic Universe
Rating: General Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: James "Bucky" Barnes/Steve Rogers
Characters: Steve Rogers, James "Bucky" Barnes
Additional Tags: Satire, Cultural References, Dinosaurs, baby you're a firewooooork, one minor reference to domestic violence
Summary: “Heil Hydra,” the enemy agent shouts. // “Heil this, motherfucker,” says Captain America, shooting off a rocket. // Steve and Bucky find out Hollywood has been busy since they went away. A historical survey, including but not limited to: one set of exploded genitals, a brief interlude in France, Mel Gibson and other masterworks of casting, eight Academy awards, several dinosaurs, and something Tony Stark has ominously dubbed “the masterpiece.” Art included.

. . . and this one is more popular (and multi-media!), but they're both as much about actual media and fannish representations as anything.

(The second one dances on the edge of not-enough-Peggy for me, which I'd like to chalk up to the never-ending problem of satirizing erasures . . . by perpetuating them, and also made me weirdly distracted because I'd been pretty sure that Steve, at least, was Catholic (turns out the Internet entirely fails to cite its sources on this question, but it seems like the comics, at least, are never more specific than "Christian").)

The Sholio section: heartwarming gen team stories

I had three stories by this author in my list, so let's put them all together. They are all pretty much what it says on the tin.

Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Characters: James "Bucky" Barnes, Steve Rogers, Natasha Romanov, Clint Barton, Tony Stark
Additional Tags: Hurt/Comfort, Friendship, Psychological Trauma, Team Feels, Team as Family
Summary: He is useful. He holds onto that. He is useful and a useful tool will not be thrown away. (For illumynare's request: How about something with Bucky realizing the Avengers actually think of him as a person? And off I went to the utterly shameless h/c place.)

Oasis (8595 words) by Sholio

Warnings: Author Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings, No Archive Warnings Apply
Characters: Rebecca Barnes Proctor
Additional Tags: Canonical Character Death
Summary: Bucky was the oldest of four. // Rebecca was the oldest of three. // Life went on even after someone died.

If comics canon establishes anything about Bucky's sister than her existence, I don't know about it, but this Rebecca is pretty awesome.

The AU section

Could use a little tidying-up of SPAG, but I love take-your-fandom-to-your-(work/town/passion) AUs. Also, there should be more disabled people writing about disabled characters.

The Winter Soldier shows up at Clint's shitty apartment (which I believe is heavily influenced by 616) and gets kinda-sorta taken in. (Clint, perhaps not entirely plausibly, has no idea who he is.)
