1. Policies
Being read and reading: if it's public, you don't need to ask to read it or link to it. If you want to introduce yourself, you can in this post or wherever else seems appropriate. I read LJ via my "friends" page and manage it accordingly.
Commenting: Comments from people without LJ or OpenID accounts are welcome, if they are manually signed with a name/handle/other identifying information, to facilitate discussion.
The following are not welcome: unsolicited advice; spoilers for works I haven't read/seen/etc.; and gross incivility. In response, I will take whatever steps I deem appropriate.
Icons: my icons were made by me unless otherwise credited. Ones in my LJ Scrapbook may be used or modified as long as I'm credited (commenting is nice too).
In case of emergency: a locked post with my RL contact info.

Labels that apply to me: spouse, parent, lawyer, reader, fan, reviewer, home owner, dog owner, American, thirty-something, woman of Asian ancestry.
Caveat about labels: "You will read my life in phosphors on a screen, or glowing letters scrolling up the inside of your eye. And when you reach the end, you will lie down again in your indifferent dark apartment, with the neon splashing watercolor blues across your face, and you will know a little less about me than you did before." —Raphael Carter, The Fortunate Fall
(Well, okay, mostly I just like the quote. I'm nowhere near as dramatic as that.)
The journal title is a paraphrase of Paul Simon's "You Can Call Me Al," in a similar spirit.
