Burn Notice S03E10, "A Dark Road"

Really really belated comment on the half-season opener for Burn Notice, back from January:

If Michael could break in to cover up for Lacey's theft of records so she wouldn't lose her job, why didn't he just break in and steal the records in the first place?

Oh, because that we wouldn't have big grand thematic angst. Gosh, whatever was I thinking?

I wasn't really happy with the half-season finale (besides what I said earlier, the treatment of Fiona was getting on my nerves), and I haven't been able to shake this critique since I read it, but regardless, "blatant logic problems" hadn't previously been high on my list of problems with the show.
