A Memory of Light reaction post

I seem to have decided to re-read the prior two Wheel of Time books before re-reading A Memory of Light, so proper booklog posts will have to wait a bit, but I thought this might amuse some of you:

SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS

I had to pause before the infamous novel-length chapter "The Last Battle" (which I don't quite see why had to be all one chapter, especially where it ended, but that's a thing I will look for on the re-read), and I was talking to Chad. The main thing I said was that I didn't really feel that any of the Big Six (Rand, Mat, Perrin, Egwene, Nynaeve, Elayne) might not survive, except maybe Rand, and even then the book had worked so hard to cast doubt on his expectation of death that I would not have bet money on it either way. Some of the monarchs and channelers, sure, and maybe Nynaeve or Aviendha would be burnt out, but I just couldn't bring myself to believe that any of those would end up dead (or any of their loved ones except maybe Lan). (Edit: well, I knew Gawyn was toast, but I forgot about him because he's totally not good enough for Egwene.)

Chad, who had previously said he didn't mind hearing me babble even though he wouldn't be able to say anything (he'd read it when it first came out), said the only thing he could, which was "I find your ideas intriguing and would like to subscribe to your newsletter."

I finished the book later that night, walked downstairs, flung my arms around him and said into his shoulder, "EGWENE!"

So, yeah. I mean, it's good that I was able to be surprised, but, EGWENE! (Also, I don't want Cadsuane to be Amyrlin. She is in fact the best person for it at the moment, but: don't wanna.)

Okay, must stop before dump more feelings out to detriment of house cleaning. Feel free to comment though.
