Dresden Files fic recs

I promised [personal profile] trent_goulding recommendations for Dresden Files fanfic last week, and my brain is 95% dead and therefore suited to cutting and pasting information about stories I already selected: six, to be exact, behind the cut in order of increasing length, because why not.

Note that descriptions contain spoilers through, let's see, Changes.

Loose Ends (2913 words) by binz, shiplizard
Rating: General Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Characters: Charity Carpenter, Nathan "Cujo" Hendricks, Margaret "Maggie" Angelica Mendoza, Mouse (Dresden Files - Butcher)
Additional Tags: Domestic, mafia, My Parents Are Dead, Start Of A Beautiful Friendship, Fist Bump, Presumed Dead, Community: trope_bingo
Summary: Tying up loose ends is part of Hendricks' job. Sometimes that's not even a euphemism for murder. But this is going to take a personal touch, and Hendricks might get a little tied up in it.

Hendricks goes to see Maggie after Changes, in a pleasantly low-key bit of competence and compassion.

Water Color (3545 words) by binz, shiplizard
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Karrin Murphy/Original Character(s)
Characters: Peter Grant, Karrin Murphy
Additional Tags: St. Patrick's Day, Crossover, Alternate Universe - Fusion, Community: trope_bingo, Fusion
Series: Part 2 of Rivers Abroad
Summary: PC Peter Grant arrives in Chicago to interview the local river goddess on March 17th, unaware of the local St. Patrick's Day traditions. He'll be finding how they do Irish in Chicago soon enough.

Peter meets Chicago's River; good voice. Written and set pre-Broken Homes.

Girl Talk (5726 words) by Betty
Rating: General Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Characters: Jared Kincaid, Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden, The Archive (Ivy), Johnny Marcone
Additional Tags: Genderswap
Summary: In which Harriet Dresden, (call her Harry) takes the Archive shopping for bras, with a slight detour for ice cream.

Cis female!Harry being friends with Ivy in a charming little slice of life story.

Idle Fancy (5786 words) by binz, Grenegome
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Sigrun Gard/Nathan "Cujo" Hendricks
Characters: Sigrun Gard, Nathan "Cujo" Hendricks, John Marcone
Additional Tags: Podfic, Community: pod-together, Community: kink_bingo, Vanilla Kink, Wooing, Audio Format: Streaming, Audio Format: MP3, Audio Format: M4B, Podfic Length: 30-45 Minutes
Summary: Hendricks gets rescued. Gard has a birthday. There is wooing.

Can't improve on the summary. Adorable. (Have not listened to the podfic.)

The Dresden Omens (17879 words) by shiplizard
Chapters: 3/3
Fandom: Dresden Files - Jim Butcher, Good Omens - Neil Gaiman & Terry Pratchett
Rating: General Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Harry Dresden/John Marcone, Aziraphale/Crowley
Characters: Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden, John Marcone, Aziraphale, Crowley, Molly Carpenter, Charity Carpenter, Thomas Raith, Mouse, "Cujo" Hendricks
Additional Tags: Crossover
Summary: In which a demon (who did not fall from grace so much as saunter vaguely downward) is sent to tempt a hero (who's reluctant at best) and has some trouble with the job. Spoilers through Book 9 of the Dresden Files (White Night) and absolutely all of Good Omens

It's really hard to be Crowley, especially when he's not properly briefed about Harry and his compatriots. (You know you want to see Crowley meet Mouse unprepared.)

Enemy Mine (145374 words) by Rassaku
Chapters: 16/16
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Harry Dresden/Johnny Marcone
Additional Tags: Lots of plot, everyone in the cast gets a cameo
Summary: Harry gets invited on a date by everyone’s favorite mob boss, and then things get weird.

The summary 100% fails to do this novel justice, which feels entirely plausible as canon and, as advertised, contains lots of plot (though the shape of it takes a little while to become clear). Great worldbuilding too, to the point where I have to stop and think whether the major magical device employed in the story is canon or not (I'm pretty sure not, at least not in this much detail).

And now, the laundry is in the dryer and I must be in my bed.
